Review of Leaves of Grass (2009) by Jay L — 10 May 2013
"DISORGANIZED CRIME.".
A surprisingly solid Coen Brothers-esque crime thriller that's packed with loads of laughs, endless insanity and copious amounts of entertainment throughout. Leaves Of Grass was excellent from the get- go, a comedy/crime thriller that is insanely similar in nearly every way to many of the Coen Brothers' films and their trademark "Dark Humor." A film that really sucks you in and gives you an insanely unstable, albeit hilarious ride through a whirlwind of pure insanity. Director Tim Blake Nelson actually created a damn good and enjoyable film here. A ludicrously twisted, darkly humorous, wildly fun and endlessly funny story of mishaps and disorganized crime. Leaves Of Grass really kept me watching and provided plenty of laughter throughout. A Stoner comedy that's perfect, a sure fire fix of violence, humor and a twisted wacked out story filled with craziness. The Coen Brothers would be proud. Pure wacked out insanity throughout, I loved it.
Edward Norton is surefire talent and entertainment in any performance, and we get Norton unleashing his A list talents in a double dose, that's right Leaves Of Grass features Norton in dual roles and yes he is magnificent in both roles. Also starring Tim Blake Nelson, Susan Duration and Richard Dreyfuss. A great film that's flown under the radar until now... Do yourself a favor and check it out.
