Review of Leatherheads (2008) by Jonas M — 28 Dec 2008
"Leatherheads" is a complete and total waste of time. Not only the time of the people choosing to sit through it, but each and every person involved in the making of it as well. If the "essence" of a dog moving its bowels, next to a dumpster behind a Costco glen could somehow be transformed into a movie about the dawn of professional football, "Leatherheads" would be that movie.
The film, which was directed by and stars George Clooney isn't so much a technical mess as it is pointless. The "kooky old timey" feeling they are trying so hard to capture, never gets captured.
The jokes aren't funny, the drama is boring, and the script is sloppy. Tp it all of with the fact that Clooney and Renee Zellweger have about as much chemistry as me and Renee Zellweger and you've gor a flop of major proportions on your hands.
My advice is to skip this one. Even if you're the hardest of hardcore football fans in the history of the game, skip this one. Also, on a side; I like John Krazinski as an actor but the idea of him playing a character nicknamed "the bullet" makes about as much sense as casting Peter Dinklege as Superman.
This is miscasting on a whole new level.
