Review of Leatherheads (2008) by Kristin R — 04 Dec 2011
This is a rarity for me, but I actually came away from this film unsure if I liked it or not. I just don't know!! So the score I give it will be based on merit and quality, without my overall feeling coming away having an effect.
Now, with that out of the way, on with the review. Leatherheads is a throwback to comedies from.. well before I was born, and mixes in its serious overtones with an overly over-the-top comedic style which will keep you guessing at the genre right to the end.
I was pleasantly surprised with Renée Zellweger in this film, but John Krasinski felt grossly miscast. With some parts as boring as watching paint dry and others that keep you glued to the screen, Leatherheads has its ups and downs, but ultimately gets the job done with a relatively entertaining experience that, if nothing else, is certainly unique.
Kudos to George Clooney for trying something new.. er, old? Well, whatever it was, congrats.
