Review of Leatherheads (2008) by Falconium — 30 Aug 2019
Did anyone get that the ending of the movie defied the rules of football and was a total sham? Clooney's mud-covered defensive back intercepts the ball thrown by the opposing team. He's mobbed in the end zone and someone throws a bucket of water at him cleaning the mud and revealing that the guy who caught the ball (Clooney's character "Dodge") was on the defense not a receiver for the offense.
Clooney's team rejoices that he caught the ball in the end zone and the ref's signal touchdown--game over. This is so glaringly wrong I cannot believe it was written and filmed. A defensive player does not score a touchdown in the endzone.
He's awarded a touchback and the ball is placed on the 20 yard line. The defensive player's offensive team mates would then try to score a touchdown going the other way. I cannot believe this movie, with all of its sophisticated sets and beautiful photography would have ended on this.
Clooney did you learn nothing about football growing up? Was there not one person on the set who said, "uh, we have a problem here...
