Review of Leap Year (2010) by Dan G — 21 Aug 2010
Despite it's flimsy premise and the same predictability the plagues nearly every romantic comedy, "Leap Year" is a witty, charming film strengthened by wonderful performances by Amy Adams and Matthew Goode and gorgeous cinematography at some beautiful Irish locations.
Adams again shows she is a good, capable actress and she shares good onscreen chemistry with Goode. The beautiful scenery and setting is amazing and I loved the genuine feel of Ireland. For the most part the movie is very well written with only a few small hiccups along the way.
Another plus is that it's an actual PG movie that isn't solely directed at children. I can't help but like the idea that adults can be entertained without loads of bad content. "Leap Year" was unfairly panned by most critics.
I found it to be a fun, entertaining, and delightful film that really helps a genre that has struggled in recent years. It has it's faults but it's so much better than most of these types of movies being pumped out of Hollywood.
