Review of Lean On Me (1989) by Leigh B — 07 Nov 2007

Have seen this movie too many times to count! Morgan Freeman does a great job playing Joe Clark. The "song birds" actually had a real music career. Karen Malina White and Jermaine "Huggy" Hopkins had many great roles because of this movie.

This is the first movie where Michael Beach played "a bad guy." Lynn Thigpen's role was 100% different than the character she played on "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?" Eastside High reminded me of my old high school in many ways.

But I know someone who went to Eastside High. He said it wasn't as bad as it was portrayed in the movie. I still wonder whatever happened to the real students that attended Eastside High. We all know what happened to Joe Clark.
