Review of Le Samouraï (1967) by Sandeep A — 26 Jul 2007
Is Alain Delon the coolest hitman in the history of film? Yes, yes he is. Melville has created less a film than a meditation on solitude and Delon is perfect as the duty-bound but doomed titular character.
Don't expect any action, but it's hard to think of a more poignant character study than Melville's monochromatic masterpiece.
