Review of Le Samouraï (1967) by Marcus M — 13 Mar 2010
Alain Delon plays Jef Costello a lone hitman, who is precise, controlled, and cold, much like Melville's direction. It's all about style, everything is so minimal, Jef's monochrome room is almost empty, except for a bird in a cage in the middle of the room.
It's low on dialogue, nothing much happens, but yet everything falls into place. Super cool French Noir at it's best.
