Review of Le Corbeau (1943) by William W — 10 Dec 2007
A small town in France is terrorized by a anonymous letter writer bent on exposing the secrets of the townsfolk. A surprisingly amoral, paranoid and cynical film for its time, which deals with topics like abortion, adultery and drug abuse in a frank way.
It reminded me of classic film noirs in its attitude, if not by style. A classic by Clouzot, the French Hitchcock.
