Review of Le Corbeau (1943) by Christophe M — 12 Mar 2010
An interesting film noir, beautifully shot, especially with a handful that probably could not be done as well today (the letter falling into the silent church). I watch these films, and I cannot help but realize that I have seen countless throwbacks to these films my entire life.
It's such a rejuvenating experience finally finding out where the references originated from. Now, this isn't the first film noir nor the first of its kind, but it definitely feels like a step towards a more bold attempt of storytelling in such a genre/experience.
Watch it. You be the judge.
