Review of Le Cercle Rouge (1970) by Steen T — 10 Nov 2007
I'd like to write something insightful and profound about this masterpiece - a sort of French The Asphalt Jungle - by director Melville, but it's difficult to say more than "stylish and awesome".
Like Le Samourai and Second Breath it's a very cool film - and I mean cool as in emotionally detached, but by the end I felt much more sympathy for the characters than I did with the other two and it made for a stronger impact.
Melville is quickly turning into one of my favourite directors.
