Review of Lawn Dogs (1997) by J K — 12 Mar 2008
A very, very strange film. Controversial because of the overt sexual tension between Sam Rockwell and a 10-year old Mischa Barton. Convoluted because the plot is hard to follow. Confusing because the ending is complete fantasy, which normally wouldn't be a problem, but there was no hint of fantasy through the entire movie leading up to it.
It just pops out of nowhere. A bit unnerving with Kathleen Quinlan's affair with the neighborhood pervert, who tries to molest Barton's character. Overall just a very odd movie with no redeeming social value whatsoever.
