Review of Lawless (2012) by Raja N — 27 Jan 2013
Lawless is based on the true story of the Bondurant brothers chased down by the law, once upon a time in the west. It is based on a book entitled "The Wettest country in the world".
The best factor in the movie is definitely the performances of Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain. The film is violent and never afraid to show you the cruelty of that period. Guy Pierce, just as he did in the count of Monte Cristo, is playing a diabolical villain whom you can't but despise. Therefore, you will stand by the outlaws and you will certainly have some affinity for their characters.
The script was pretty solid as well, it was a good enough film, but when you get out of that theater, it will just feel like a vague memory since you won't be remembering this film the following day.
