Review of Law Abiding Citizen (2009) by Imran K — 08 Oct 2011
Some elements of this disjointed shambles could be incorporated into a proper thiller but this offering simply fails on too many levels. Horribly miscast, Butler can only plod through the enfolding series of explosions that passes for a plot, gurning as best he can.
The original crime is cartoon-like, as is the cardboard cut-out villain. However the notion that a deal-cutting legal whizz kid is the 'hero' defies credulity. For the record Butler plays a psychopathic ex-special ops tactician who 'goes to war' with the city of Philadelphia; nice whizzbangs though.
