Gerald may have gone a bit overboard on getting revenge after the man who killed his wofe and child in front of him is set free because he made a bargain with the DA played by Jamie Foxx. But I dont' blame him for wanting to make the man who killed his wife and daughter want to pay for what he did.

I am sure there was another way he could have been sent to solitaire besides killing his cell mate so he could dig his tunnel to the building that the mayor was going to be having her meeting in. A shame that such a good looking man had to die, but he did go a bit overboard.
