Review of L'Avventura (1960) by Flike S — 14 Jun 2009
I used to think this was the weakest of Antonioni's "incommunicable" trilogy, but how can one choose such things? Although cold and intentionally uninvolving at times, this is so ideologically interesting.
It dares to question the basic moral obligations nearly every American film (and perhaps every country) since 1980 has been constricted to. Combined with Aldo Scavarda's bleak cinematography, there is something about this film that I just can't get over.
Possibly more on this later.
