Review of Latter Days (2004) by Dale B — 05 Aug 2009
Even though it contains the issue of the LDS Church and their stance on homosexuality, the movie is really a fluffy romcom, and the filmmakers do a pretty decent job making it fun and cute. Wes Ramsey is a hoot playing the party boy, and he really made us believe in the sparks flying between his character and the thoughtful religious guy, played adorably by Steve Sandvoss.
The supporting actors also contributed ably with their colorful personalities and the wittiness going back and forth. There are quite a few laugh-out-loud moments, as well as some "aww" ones.
I do wish, though, that the love story between Chris and Aaron had been better developed in the second half. Also, the climax, when they meet again, lacked the emotional punch it should've had, and felt very rushed.
