Review of Latter Days (2004) by Randy T — 02 Jun 2011
Later Days is a well meaning romantic drama that combines laughs, seduction, tears and plenty of romance. Handsome Aaron, a Mormon missionary, travels door-to-door in Los Angeles spreading the word of his religion. Christian, a cute West Hollywood party boy, goes from man-to-man without much commitment. Opposites soon attract when Aaron and Christian meet and sparks begin to fly.
The pair fall in love and discovered which lead to Aaron having to face the consequences from his deeply homophobic Church and family. In the end Aaron realizes that he doesn't have to choose between his love for God and his love for Christian - he can love both, just not within the confines of his Church. The films is an indictment of homophobia within religion, while managing to be simultaneously poignant with a message of hope for all those who still suffer.
