Review of Last Vegas (2013) by Chris P — 05 Feb 2014
There have been quite a few geriatric movies of late that have been quite fun (see also, 'Red' and 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'). Now we get a hybrid of sorts, with a sort of geriatric version of 'The Hangover'.
Okay, it's not nearly as hilarious as the first 'Hangover', but it's markedly better than the two follow-ups. That said, director Jon Turteltaub's (The Sorcerer's Apprentice) corralling of Michael Douglas (Haywire), Robert De Niro (Silver Linings Playbook), Morgan Freeman (Now You See Me), and Kevin Kline (No Strings Attached) does have some fun parts.
De Niro and Freeman are the real standouts. I've just never understood the appeal of Douglas. Still, there is enough fun to have, despite the awful, needless cameo by the talentless LMFAO. However, there are worse ways to waste two hours.
