Review of Last Tango in Paris (1972) by Jody W — 31 Jul 2008
Marlon Brando's performance? Inspired, poignant, charismatic... and throughout most of the movie hilarious.
The movie itself? Chauvinist, pretentious, and definitely not worth all the hype surrounding it; with or without the sex scene with the butter.
If you're craving moody, engrossing and sexually agressive, go for Streetcar. You get the same effect... without the bemused and nauseated morning-after.
Does Marlon's performance justify the two hours I wasted watching this? Hmm.. I'll get back to you on that.
