Review of Last Love (2014) by Lou B — 01 Jun 2014
I'm surprised by the negative feedback about this movie. For me, the slow pace is exactly where the beauty lies in this film. It is smart, meditative, and doesn't shy away from the topic of aging and loneliness.
This film explores the nature of love and grief, the challenges and possibilities of re-entering the world after losing someone. If you like action and blockbuster movies, then it's not for you, but if you appreciate subtlety and nuance, then I highly recommend this film.
Yes, it's sad, and it doesn't go for the happy ending, which is why it is not "sentimental" as one reviewer said. It's raw and unforgiving, in the way good films are.
