Review of Last Exit to Brooklyn (1989) by Damien K — 23 May 2009
Some strong performances, but this is only compelling up to a point. Consistently unpleasant - nearly every main character gets punished somehow - and it's never especially clear if there's a point to all the on-screen suffering.
It doesn't appear to be a morality tale, there's not much social or class critique (despite the strike storyline)... it just kind of is.
