Review of Last Days (2014) by Jonathan C — 01 Feb 2011
Most films need dialogue to say something, Last Days is not most films. Nothing much happens, and that is the films main strength. The subtleness of the film is represented throughout through Michael Pitt's unforgettable and mesmerising performance of a rock star bulking under fame.
Through a slow pace, hundreds of long shots and fierce direction, A masterpiece is created. Featuring possibly my favourite song of all-time (Death To Birth) this is a unique, powerful, beautiful and intelligent film that will possess your mind from the opening scene and make you surrender.
The beauty and intelligence of this film is near-impossible to explain. This is a great film, one of Van Sant's best, and one of my favourite films.
