Review of Last Chance Harvey (2008) by Adinda A — 16 Oct 2010
Cute romance has jingle writer Harvey (Hoffman) departing for London for his daughter's wedding. He hasn't had much to do with his daughter in several years and generally feels like an outside (she and her mother like the company of wealthier men).
Also, Harvey is feeling the pressure of losing his job as his skills as a musician are being replaced by a computer. Meanwhile, Kate (Thompson) is a spinster who lives with her nosy mother (Atkins). She wants to find love, but has lost faith in trying to find it.
Harvey and Kate find each other and the middle aged romance begins. Excellent acting by the two leads does overcome rather cliche moments. And Hoffman is a little too old for the role. But, not a bad romance overall.
