Review of Lars and the Real Girl (2007) by Matthew F. J — 03 Mar 2013
This film is very different from most of the actual productions out there these days. Gosling must have a dam good nose for indy flicks because so far I have never seen any film with him that was somehow boring or casual... his filmo is pretty brilliant, always choosing nuanced characters in small films over studios super productions. Here he's Lars, a somehow weird guy who's ordering a sex doll and decides to make her his girlfriend. The funny thing with this film is that the whole town goes along with Lars delusion in order to help him. It's hilarious to see 'Bianca' being hired for work in a clothing shop, or Bianca going to do charity work with the children. I loved the character played by Patricia Clakson who's probably one of the most talented and incredible female actor I have ever seen.
This film as unconventional as it sounds is just really entertaining, very funny & witty.
A film that will stick with you for a long time after watching it.
