Review of Larry Crowne (2011) by Cassie H — 04 Dec 2011
Before Larry Crowne ( Tom Hanks) was downsized in his position at U-Mart, he was very accomplished. He had served 20 years in the army and 10 or more years at U-Mart, but things take a turn for the worst when Larry is fired for not having a college education.
That's where Mercedes Tainot (Julia Roberts) comes in. She teaches a speaking class at a community college. She is somewhat unhappy in life and her pathetic husband Dean Tainot (Bryan Cranston), who works from home and looks at porn all day is burning a hole in her life.
Her life starts to look up when Larry Crowne takes her class as well as the other students in her class such as Steve Dibiasi (Rami Malek), who is a very eccentric individual. Larry's life also turns around when he meets Talia (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who is a free spirit who is out to enjoy life.
A great movie that is both romantic and comedic. It also helps that Julia & Tom are two of my favorite actors. I adore them, and they again shock me by their amazing chemistry since that in Charlie Wilson''s War.
