Review of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) by Amanda C — 30 Mar 2011
Predictable, with some truly horrid lines, Tomb Raider has its moments, although they are few and far between. Jolie is completely unbelievable in all the hand-hand combat sequences, although she knows her way around a gun and the twirl she gives them before holstering them is cool. There just isn't any power behind her punches, and the behind the scenes footage is actually ten times better than anything that made it into the film.
The bungee ballet and the sequence that follows is the highlight of the film. Providing the action that is expected out of fare like this both well and with some originality. But other than that if you don't enjoy looking at Angelina Jolie or Daniel Craig, there's not much in the way of substance here, not even solely in the name of entertainment.
