Review of Land of the Dead (2005) by Josh R — 29 Nov 2009
I want to like this movie so much but I can't bring myself to it. I understand this was somewhat of a continuation of Bub from Day of the Dead, which I like. But George Romero just didn't do it as well as he did in Day. It didn't explain it as well as he did in Day. At least in Day he had Dr. Frankenstein teaching and working with Bub at learning to be human again.
I like the social commentary in this one though like he has in all of his zombie movies. People are trying to get into Fiddler's Green. Just like lower and middle class people are always trying to live like they're rich and upper class.
But overall, this movie is just flawed in multiple ways, namely John Leguizamo. This is proof that the godfather of zombie movies can't always make a good zombie flick.
