19 years after Day of the Dead George Romero returned with Land of The Dead, an enjoyable film that brings back the fun of Dawn of the Dead.

The film starts with Riley (Simon Baker) and Cholo (John Leguizamo), they're part of a group of people who go out at night find supplies to survive from the zombie epidemic. They bring the supplies to Fiddler's Green, a high rise building run by Dennis Hopper. But Cholo isn't happy with Hopper so he steals the gun filled, van known as Dead Reckoning. Hopper hires Riley to bring him back.

Through out the film the zombie's are getting smarter. Eugene Clark plays a zombie named Big Daddy who finds a gun and starts to use it. He starts to become sad when his fellow zombies are killed. He's like Bub from Day of the Dead, except Big Daddy's more interested on killing the humans.

Ok, this movie does not beat Dawn of the Dead, or as good as Night of the Living Dead, but it's more fun than Day of the Dead which had a too depressing setting and no interesting characters. This time we have characters that keep us watching the screen. Dennis Hopper's character is funny, while John Leguizamo plays an anti-hero and a hero at the same time.

Its special effects are mostly CGI, and aren't that great. I didn't care for them. There are many gory scenes that didn't dazzle me.

What I like was that it had fun with the characters just like Dawn of the Dead. It's also has satire moments like Dawn. It wasn't just plain horror like Day, it had funny moments.

It was interesting the way Romero started the film. It obviously takes place a few years after the last movie because the zombie's are already walking the Earth. And it's cool to see the people living and seeing what they're doing. That's one of my favorite elements.
