Romero has apparently pretty much left scriptwriting and is stuck on "gore", there is nothing left of the original society criticism in "Night..." . Perhaps the problem with most zombie movies is that they are made by zombie movie fans who just make movies they want to see.
Favourite moment: the soldier who falls on his own bitten-off hand holding a handgrenade.
