Review of Land and Freedom (1995) by Dan B — 06 Jun 2008
Reading For Whom The Bell Tolls kick-started my interest in the Spanish Civil War, this Ken Loach film is a great look at the subject from the anarchists point of view. It was an inspired decision to use a well meaning but politically raw and naive central character (a Scouse communist) who was coming in from the outside, it really helps to convey how complex and confusing the conflict was.
