Review of Lakeview Terrace (2008) by Nathan N — 24 Apr 2010
Lakeview Terrace flirts with being something more than good but doesn't quite make it there. However, after helming The Wicker Man, LaBute ought to be thrilled with "good". The whole cast perfroms well.
Wilson's return to suburban tension is solid and it's always nice to see Jackson playing a character and not simply himself. The plot does get a little out of hand from time to time. These times are rare but it is the ending that realy cripples it.
Almost had to add the extra half star but couldn't quite do it. Terrace is mostly effective in being a tense meditation on race, class and corruption but realy could have been more.
