Review of Lake of Fire (2006) by Ben W — 07 Jul 2008
Dont ever let anyone tell you that this documentary is unbiased. it is. and I say this being one who leans slightly more toward pro-choice. its less about the issue of abortion than it is about how different people react to it.
I can say one thing. I never want to see even the smallest part of another aborted fetus. kaye, while he made a pretty good product overall, is too inflammatory himself, as a person, to think that he can make a film thats unbiased.
and he didnt necessarily help himself by showing multiple parts of his interview with noam chomsky. I understand why people gravitate toward chomsky, but in the end chomsky knows just about as much as we do and is just as biased as all other americans.
I cant say that I recommend this for much of anyone. the arguments are all there but weve heard them all before, this film simply compiles them into one place. its pretty much a given that people who kill abortion doctors are hypocrites.
I can name numerous other platitude-like sequences in this film. bottom line, no matter where you stand on the issue, it will probably just make you angry and emotional and I think as americans weve already had enough of that on this issue.
