Review of Ladyhawke (1985) by Thaïs J — 15 Sep 2011
This film is a nice fantasy romance, with some humor and good performances. Matthew Broderick brings the humor, while Rutger Hauer (who should be getting more work today) takes a nice hero role and Michelle Pfeiffer makes a beautiful tragic lady.
The villain is a Bishop and Broderick's character talks to God all the time, but it somehow doesn't feel like this film has too much religious content. And the magical element is simply explained as curse "spat out' by the Devil.
No outlandish stuff needed. The look of the film isn't dated much at all, though the music is SO '80s! A good couple of hours.
