Review of Lady in White (1988) by Lord N — 10 Aug 2009
Before I saw this, my mother told me a story about this film. she said, that when she was in college, she and a bunch of her friends went to a Blockbuster or something to that effect, and asked the guy working there, "what are some really great films that no one has heard of?" this was one of the films that he suggested.
I am glad that my mother came across this one and showed it to us. it was a really great film. we watched it at night which made all the little low budget cheap trills even better. it isn't like some really high tech special effects film that will have you hanging on the edge of your seat sort of horror film. and, to be quite honest, if it was this movie wouldn't work at all. it is just fine the way it is. long story short, I would really suggest this one to anyone who hasn't seen it. it isn't this amazing thing but it is a really nice film. I'm glad I saw it and I liked it a lot.
TRIVIA TIME:On the DVD commentary, director Frank LaLoggia says that he got the idea for using the song "Did You Ever See a Dream Walking?" (which is a significant plot element in the movie) from hearing it in the Eddie Cantor movie Roman Scandals. Actually, this song does not appear in the Cantor film; it was written for the musical Sitting Pretty. Both "Roman Scandals" and "Sitting Pretty" were released in 1933.
