Review of Lady in the Water (2006) by Kat S — 12 Jun 2010
Though I'm a big Shyamalan fan and will defend even the most hated-on of his work, I have to admit that this one was a little meh. I enjoyed it, and there were some great performances, but I DO understand why a lot of people are down on this one.
I like to look at it as a piece of art crafted by Shyamalan. If you put it in context of an ancient, surreal bedtime story brought to life, it's easier to understand the strange twists of the film, and to enjoy it.
It's no "Sixth Sense" or "Unbreakable", but it's a well-done piece in it's own respect.
