Review of Lady in the Water (2006) by Rogerinho S — 23 Jun 2012
Suspend belief in an organized plot line and ignore the holes in the story. Think as a child listening to your father tell you a scary bedtime story. A story that changes with each telling and enhances with your nightmares. Do that and you have Lady in the Water. Visually perfect. This movie is suspenseful, amusing, a bit scary (target must be children) and a little bit moralistic. Like all of Shyamalan's flicks this one can be viewed over and over.
Some critics did not care for it because it wasn't his usual meticulously detailed and linked efforts. What do they know. Be a child and really enjoy it. Best character is Paul Giamatti healing performance. Best laugh is the fate of the movie critic (go figure)!
