Review of Ladder 49 (2004) by Zeke H — 30 Nov 2008
One of the bes films I have ever seen, and at first I had thoughts on whether or not to watch it.
Jack Morrison (Joaquin Phoenix) is a firefighter on call to a blaze in a 20-story building, but becomes trapped when a floor collapses. His teammates, led by his mentor Mike Kennedy (John Travolta), hurries to free him.
Whilst the idea of a biography of a firefighter worried me at first, this film turns out to be much better than originally thought. The film brings fourth the danger that every firefighter takes in order to protect lives, making it very dramatic and gives it a powerful impact, it certainly makes you feel a great amount of respect is what these firefighters deserve.
The acting is brilliant, the effects are great and the plot is fantastic. The ending is also one of the best, and most shocking, in film history. It is definately a must see film.
