Review of Labor Day (2013) by Dan W — 22 Jul 2014
The juxtaposition of the small town tempo with the ticking time bomb of the scenario makes for mixed emotions while viewing this - a kind of warm anxiety. And the cooking scenes make for a ridiculously delicious quaintness.
The little boy is a star actor and josh brolin plays the sane character he always plays, the brooding anti hero - a good man with a bad past. It totally has it's falls and is predictable but isn't that what small town life is about? Drama that has subtlety of a freight train and the predictability of chest pain?
