Review of La Vie en Rose (2007) by Greg C — 01 Aug 2010
This film is Marion Cotillard. She captivates her audience in every scene, ranging from dazzling ingenue to childish and spoiled diva, from lost in love young woman to an old, dying woman lost in her past.
There are other things that make this film excellent though. The art direction/visual design are extraordinary in scope and beautiful and stunning. The jobs done in makeup, set design and costumes is done so well and was also so extensive.
Not enough can be said about the overall production design. You literally become lost in the worlds created upon the screen. Finally, I like the direction the film traces, with acme really great photography and editing choices but there are several moments where it seems the direction is pushed to much, almost as if he was showing off.
Great portrayal of Piaf and her life.
