Review of La Vie en Rose (2007) by Henry L — 22 Mar 2009
Marion Cotillard deserves her Oscar - her amazing performance aside, this woman can sing. She really puts Reese Witherspoon's Oscar to shame as an actress who also steps into the role of a legendary singer.
Nevertheless, I find this a bit too sentimental for my taste and I hate the constant jumping back and forth in time. Again, Marion Cotillard makes the sentimentality not cheesy at all - there is a veil of dignity to it.
Her portryal of Edith Piaf has so many dimensions: her commitment to performing arts, her faith/ignorance and passion for love.
