Review of La Vie en Rose (2007) by Matt G — 07 Sep 2009
What makes this film incredible is Marion Cotillard's performance. She is truly an actress who has a bright future in front of her. Besides her performance though, the film is only so-so. There is great music, cinematography, costume and production design, but the way the story is told is a little weak.
There are also some performances that are a little too conventional to music biopics and biopics. Another major drawback was the large jumps forward and backward in time. Overall, it is an alright film to watch for a good performance, but despite the compelling true life story, the film is only fair is far too conventional.
