Review of La Vie en Rose (2007) by Jose E — 05 May 2010
A brilliant addition to the recent flow of musical biopics by director Olivier Dahan, who tells his own version of Piaf's life. Marion Cotillard is incredible as the French street busker turned superstar Edith Piaf.
She fully deserved the Best Actress Oscar - to achieve this remarkable portrayal she did not come out of character for three whole months. The movie moves swiftly at times from era to era, which is quite a challenge at first, but it's well worth persevering with.
Fine support from Seigner, Depardieu et al but Cotillard steals the show.
