Review of La Vie en Rose (2007) by Jacob F — 15 May 2011
I found the narrative structure of the film messy and very difficult to follow. However, I think the film is mostly redeemed by its top-notch art direction, make-up and cinematography. But the main aspect that makes the film worth watching is Marion Cotillard's magnificent performance as Edith Piaf.
She shows a vast range of emotions and she effectively portrayed Piaf at different ages. With that said, I think she definitely earned the Academy Award for Best Actress. Above all, despite the confusing narrative structure, the remarkable production values and Cotillard's astounding performance make La Vie En Rose worth a look.
