La Strada means "The Road.".

So, this movie, set in devastated post-war Italy; is about a traveling entertainer Zampano and his, literally, wage slave young girl Gelsomina. If you like stubbornness, you're going to love this movie. Every character acts beyond their own rationality, and often beyond how they want to act, just for the sake of it. You constantly feel hopeless for them; you don't want them to act the way they're acting. But that's what makes it so tragic. I think, looking back, the most sad part of this movie; aside the obvious scene those who have seen it know about, is Gelsomina trying to provide balance for Zampano's stubbornness.

There's a lot I want to say but I don't want to spoil it. So just remember the key words: tragic, stubborn, regret, impoverished. Those four words represent La Strada.

Probably the best movie I've seen in 2008.
