Review of La Notte (1961) by Matthew S — 18 Aug 2013
La Notte is as brutally honest as it is poetically compelling. It certainly is one of the most original and effective takes on the disenchantment which takes place at the end of a romance. Antonioni's second addition to the unofficial 'incomunicability' trilogy may be the least impressive and its slowness may frustrate some viewers.
Nevertheless, it is perhaps this feeling of discomfort that makes his film so deep and impressive.
