Review of La La Land (2016) by Irina L — 14 Jan 2018
Charming, funny, irresistibly romantic, infectiously emotional and exuberant. 'La La Land' is definitely one of the best films of its genre. Excellent musical where the cast does not sing most of the time, but does so when it really matters - when music and dance are the best and only way to express your feelings. If you haven't seen it yet, but plan to do so, then switch off your mind for a few hours and be prepared not to think, but feel every single bit of it. Every emotion that Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone convey with their eyes, Damien Chazelle with his wonderful vision of this story, Justin Hurwitz with every single note of his catchy and touching songs. It's one of those films which might not necessarily have one of the most complicated plots, but it takes you on an emotional journey which will make you both laugh and cry. It's Hollywood at its best creating a dream story about the dreamers and for the dreamers who, after all, we all are.
'Here's to the ones who dream'.
