The academy's wet dream.

I wanted to hate this flick because I'm a cynical cunt who hates when other people like something, but I did not hate la la land I actually immensely enjoyed it. The run time is approx 2 hours but flies by with brilliant pacing. The script is deep and immersed with many clever jokes that I didn't expect. My biggest concern going into it was that because it was a musical the script would get undermined. The relationship between Gosling and Stone was the best part of the film. During the epilogue many people in the theatre gasped when they seen what there relationship was, this quantified the deep connection with the audience and character. La La Land's best decision was to not fall into the cliche of a classic Hollywood love story. The music as expected is great, and not over done it has a good balance of people randomly breaking out in song and normal dialogue. My biggest flaw was the John legend character. He was just kinda there and didn't really bring anything to the table. I actually kinda forgot that he was in the film after I watched it. La La Land flys by while touching on glee, melancholy and hope.

Favorite random character: Jk Simmons.
