While watching the 2017 Oscars, I found myself wondering why Samuel L. Jackson kept rolling his eyes when the presenter announced another win for La la land. I was behind in my Oscar viewings and had yet to see the film. "It can't be that bad" I thought in contemplation of Mr. Jackson's raised eyebrows. Having now seen the film, I must say I'm sorry Mr. Jackson. Your contention was not in vein. La la land's numerous Oscar wins may be the proof we needed to show that the Academy is overrun by a certain demographic: those who remember the 1950's and 60's with fondness, and likely shed a tear in nostalgic reminision when Ryan Gosling tapped his feet and Emma Stone squealed in delight.

I'm four months pregnant and watching La la land was more nauseating than morning sickness.
