Review of La La Land (2016) by Keith M — 06 Jun 2017
Absolutely flawless movie. Nobody in any review has been able to find a single thing actually wrong with this movie, they just complain about their opinions. And that's great, because all film is subjective. But you can't say it's a bad film because you don't like. This film is flawless. The acting is superb, the music is f*cking amazing (Epilogue is the single greatest piece of musical score that I have ever heard), the choreography is extremely impressive, the direction is fabulous, and the cinematography and set design are spectacular. You know a film is a amazing when the only part of a film you dislike, is still one of the best scenes of the movie. I think that the observatory scene feels a little out of place, and takes the movie from an 'as believable as it gets musical' to two superheroes hanging in the air (I guess Spiderman didn't kill Gwen this time ;).).
Overall La La Land is simply put the best movie of 2016 (top 3 of the decade), and should have easily won the Best Picture Oscar. (For those people who call this overrated, clearly you haven't seen the definition of overrated. It's directed by Barry Jenkins, and is called Moonlight.).
